Proverbs 4

Security in Wisdom

Lord, let me hear the instruction of a father and give attention to know understanding, for You give me good doctrine, that I may not forsake Your law. Let my heart retain Your Words, keep Your commandments and live. Lord, allow me to get wisdom and understanding. Help me not to forget nor turn away from the Words of Your mouth. Help me not to forsake her so that she may preserve me. Teach me to love wisdom and understanding so that she will keep me. Wisdom is the principal thing, therefor I seek wisdom. I seek understanding also and exalt her so that she may promote me. May she find me worthy to bring me honor when I embrace her. May she place on my head an ornament of grace, may she deliver me a crown of glory. Lord I receive You sayings so that the years of my life may be many. You teach me in the ways of wisdom. You lead in the right paths. When I walk my steps will not be hindered and when I run I will not stumble. I take firm hold of Your instruction, help me to never let it go. Help me keep her Lord, for she is my life. Lord help me never to enter into the path of the wicked and to never walk in the way of evil. I want to avoid it and not travel on it and when it crosses my path I want to turn away from it and pass on. For they do not sleep unless they have done evil and their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, they drink the wine of violence, but the path of the just is like the shining sun that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness they do not know what makes them stumble. Lord, help me to give attention to Your words and incline my ears to Your sayings. Let my eyes not depart from them but keep them in the midst of my heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh. Let me keep my heart with all diligence for out of it springs issues of life. Put away from me a deceitful mouth and put perverse lips far from me. My eyes look straight ahead and my eyelids look right before me. I ponder the path of my feet and let all my ways be established. Not turning to the right or the left but to remove my foot from evil.
